My Editorial Work
Here’s a peek at just some of the many book series I’ve had the pleasure of editing.
Beginning Readers
I came up with the concept for Scholastic's Acorn beginning reader format, which launched in 2019. With easy-to-read text, a short-story format, plenty of humor, and full-color artwork on every page, Acorn books are designed to boost reading confidence in children who are just learning to read.
Parents magazine remarked, “Behold the modern early reader,” in its review of the Unicorn and Yeti series. That was all the confirmation I needed that I was succeeding at effectively changing and modernizing the learn-to-read game for today’s young readers.
Early Chapter Books
I came up with the concept for Scholastic’s Branches early chapter book format, which launched in 2013. With easy-to-read text, high-interest content, fast-paced plots, and illustrations on every page, these series boost reading stamina and fluency. Branches books help newly independent readers grow into confident readers!
Today, there are two New York Times-bestselling Branches series (Dragon Masters and Owl Diaries), two television shows based on Branches series (“Eva the Owlet” and “Press Start”), and more than 58 million Branches books in print.
